How to make Kasuri Methi at home with step wise pictorial and video method.

Fresh methi (Fenugreek) leaves when dried, that becomes Kasuri Methi.

Kasuri Methi is broadly used in North Indian cuisine as a condiment to enhance the flavours of the dish.

A tsp of kasuri methi is when added to the final dish, the taste of the dish gets doubled as it’s strong aroma and distinctive flavour enriches the dish.

This herb is very easy to make at home and whenever we have extra fresh Methi after making Aloo Methi from fresh Methi leaves, we just make kasuri methi.

In microwave and air fryer, it is just a 10 -15 minutes task and you have fresh and fragrant homemade Kasuri Methi is ready.

After making Kasuri Methi at home, we have realised that not only it is easy and preservatives free to make at home, but it’s aroma is much more higher and great than the store bought kasuri methi.

Whenever we open the lid of box carrying homemade Kasuri Methi, the whole kitchen is filled with the aroma of methi and that’s truly mesmerizing.

Here in this post, we have shared 3 methods of making Kasuri methi at home, which involves air frying method, oven and microwave method as well.

However if you don’t have any of the appliances at home, still you can make this herb at home but just sun drying the fresh Fenugreek leaves. Yes, this way, the process will take about 2 to 3 days.

HOW TO STORE HOMEMADE KASURI METHI?

Place the homemade Kasuri Methi is clean air tight container and place the container in dry and cool place, preferably in refrigerator and it will last about 6 months.

STEP WISE PICTORIAL RECIPE OF HOW TO MAKE KASURI METHI AT HOME

 

1. Pluck the methi leaves and collect in a bowl. You can also keep the soft stalks along.

2. Wash methi 3-4 times or until all it’s impurities are gone.

3. Put Methi in colander for 10-15 minutes so that most of its water drops out.

AIR FRYER METHOD

1. Put some methi leaves in air fryer basket.

2. Place a trivot to prevent the leaves from flying.

3. Air fry for 5 minutes @180°C. Shake the basket and again air fry the leaves for more 5 minutes at similar temperature.

4. Bring out the air fryer basket. Leaves have turned completely dry. Take the leaves out of basket and crush them.

5. Kashuri Methi in air fryer is ready.

OVEN METHOD

1. Arrange the washed methi leaves on a baking tray lined with butter paper. Butter paper needs no greasing.

2. Put the tray in the top rack of the pre-heated oven and bake for 15 minutes @180°C. Stir the leaves and bake further for more 15 minutes @same temperature.

4. Bring the tray out and let leaves cool down completely.

5. Crush and Kasuri methi in oven is ready.


MICROWAVE METHOD

 

1. Put the leaves in microwave safe tray.

2. Microwave on highest power (our’s is 900) for 4 minutes. Stir the leaves and again microwave for 4 minutes.

3. Bring the tray out and let leaves cool down completely.

4. Crush them. Kashuri Methi in microwave is ready.

So here we have Kasuri methi made using 3 methods.
