Sugar free eggless dates cake recipe with step wise pictorial and video method.
Sugar free cake made with whole wheat flour and sweetened with natural sweetener dates is undoubtedly deserves to be appreciated as healthy bake.
Sugar is the prime ingredient which debars most of the health conscious people from eating cakes, be it homemade.
Keeping them into mind, this sugar free date and walnut cake is developed wherein there’s no sugar in any artificial form, be it refined sugar, cane sugar, brown sugar or jaggery, except the natural sugar of dates.
INGREDIENTS USED IN SUGARLESS DATE CAKE
DATES : Dates are the prime ingredient here in this sugar free date cake. The quantity of dates is very material in this recipe because that is the only ingredient which is the supplier of sweetness in a cake.
If you are adding additional sugar in a cake then no issues with the dates quantity because sugar will balance the sweetness.
So either keep the quantity of dates intact as suggested (no problem if goes up) or add additional sugar for sweetness.
Furthermore, it is only the medjool dates which are best for this recipe and not the dry dates.
MILK : Besides supplying the moisture in this Sugar free cake recipe, milk helps in softening the dates.
You can choose the cold (room temperature) milk also but we preferred extremely hot because one, it will soften the dates so good and secondly, being extreme winters at our place, only the hot one could draw expected results because dates needed to be so smooth.
If you are intending to make this recipe vegan, then use plant based milk or even water could do.
FLOUR : When you are doing healthy baking, you have no reason to pick all purpose flour.
So we have picked whole wheat flour for the recipe. However you can choose APF, if you wish to.
OIL : Pick the oil which has no taste and smell. Refined oil works well in cakes.
In place of oil, you can use melted butter too.
LEAVENING AGENTS : Baking powder and baking soda helps in making a cake soft and fluffy.
VANILLA ESSENCE is for the fragrance.
SALT : A pinch of salt helps in enhancing the flavour. If you are using butter to the recipe that has salt, then don’t add extra salt.
WALNUTS : Walnuts are there for administering healthiness to the cake. Also walnuts develop a rich flavor, brittle and crunchy texture.
However the walnuts or any nuts you are using needs to be first coated with flour because coating prevents the nuts from sticking to the bottom of the cake tin.
Dates Cake Recipe With Step Wise Pictorial And Video Method
- Remove the seeds from the dates and roughly chop them.
- Add milk in dates.
- Cover the bowl and keep aside for 3 to 4 hours.
- After the said time, transfer the dates milk into a blender.
- Blend them to a smooth puree.
- Transfer the puree to a bowl.
- Add oil and vanilla essence.
- Whisk them very well.
- Place a sieve over the bowl.
- Add 1 cup of flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Sift them to the bowl.
- Coat walnuts with a tsp of flour.
- Add walnuts to the bowl.
- Mix well using cut and fold method.
- Transfer the batter into a greased pan.
- Bake in preheated oven @170°C for 35 to 40 minutes in the middle rack of the oven with both the rods on.
- Take the cake out and insert a toothpick in it. If toothpick comes out clean, cake is perfectly baked.
Let cake cool down completely before demoulding.
NOTES
- This cake is mildly sweet. If you like more sweetness, you may add 3-4 tablespoon of sugar also.
- Oil and wheat flour can be replaced with melted butter and all purpose flour respectively.
- You may omit walnuts or replace it with some other nuts.

- 25-26 Medjool Dates
- 1.25 cup Milk (extremely hot)
- 1 cup whole wheat flour (+1 tsp extra)
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1/2 tsp Baking powder
