The recipe is named as ‘oats khoya ladoo” because the leftover desi ghee residue is also named as khoya or mava at many places. There are number of recipes in the blog made with leftover desi ghee residue and there are many more to come because making desi ghee from malai at home is a continuous job in our family. And on average we make ghee twice a month. So we put it straight away that every month you are going to have 2 new recipes made with leftover desi ghee residue… lol.

This recipe is not just about using leftover desi ghee residue but also a nice way to add oats in our diet. Though we don’t eat sweets on daily basis but why not avail any opportunity which brings oats to us.

Oats are rich food being protein-packed, low on fat and full of fiber & magnesium. They are versatile and quite satisfying. Full of fiber & vitamin E, oats are good for heart & skin, maintains weight, controls blood pressure, reduces risk of cancer & hypertension, prevents Constipation.

Step wise pictorial recipe of oats khoya ladoo

  1. Add ghee in a pan on low flame.
  2. Roast oats till they slightly changes their colour.
  3. Add ghee residue & properly merge with the oats.
  4. Add jaggery & keep stirring till jaggery melts.
  5. Add cardamom powder and mix.
  6. Let the mixture cool a bit so that it can be easily touched.
  7. Now start making small balls out of mixture & roll each ball in crushed almonds.
  8. Let them turn cool down completely.oats khoya ladoo

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup  Oats  plain
  • 1 cup ghee residue
  • 1 cup Jaggery
  • 1 tbsp desi ghee
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • Almond crush for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Add ghee in a pan on low flame.
  • Roast oats till they slightly changes their colour.
  • Add ghee residue & properly merge with the oats.
  • Add jaggery & keep stirring till jaggery melts.
  • Add cardamom powder and mix.
  • Let the mixture cool a bit so that it can be easily touched.
  • Now start making small balls out of mixture & roll each ball in crushed almonds.
  • Enjoy after they cool down completely.

NOTE

* You can add the oats by grinding them too but grainy texture in ladoo is unmatchable.

* Rolling the laddu in almond crush is also optional. Almonds give a rich look & taste to these Ladoos.
