Bathua Ka Paratha Recipe | Healthy Winter Bathua Paratha Recipe with step wise pictorial and video method
Bathua, which is called by the names lamb’s quarters, white goosefoot or pigweed is a winter leafy greens that appears for a very limited period.
Sadly, Bathua is not something who has gained so much of popularity and love and is generally used just in rural households and in association with other primary ingredients like with Sarsoo for making sarsoo ka saag.
Though a kind of vegetable is also made with bathua but it’s very rare with least knowledge.
Even we were not aware that bathua is so magical until we made parathas out of it. Actually recently we bought bathua to make Sarsoo Ka Saag but it was in little large quantity.
We were totally clueless how to use leftover bathua, then got to see a reel on social media and decided to make parathas out of it.
We never thought that these are going to be so delicious until we made parathas out of it.
Actually when we decided to make parathas, we didn’t shoot a video because we had no idea this is going to be so delicious. Our intention was just to finish the leftover bathua.
But when we ate the parathas, OMG…. they were so delicious that we couldn’t resist. And only then we decided to create a special blog post and video for this wonder green.
We have made and eaten variety of parathas like aloo ka paratha, muli ka paratha, matar ka paratha, hare pyaz ka paratha, paneer paratha, gobi ka paratha, Rice Flour Masala Paratha, Leftover Dal Paratha Recipe, Besan Stuffed Paratha or dahi ka paratha most were not turned into posts, bring so common and basic. But honestly, this Bathua paratha is the tastiest of all the paratha recipes.
Iron-rich, detoxifying and digestive-friendly, bathua or recipes made of it are full of warmth, nourishment and tradition.
Mildly earthy and slightly nutty, Bathua ka Paratha pairs beautifully with winter accompaniments like homemade butter, curd, pickle, raita or just with a cup of hot tea.
STEP WISE PICTORIAL RECIPE OF BATHUA KA PARATHA RECIPE
Pluck the leaves of bathua and wash them so well. Add 1 cup of boiling hot water in bathua leaves so that the leaves soft a bit. Cover and keep aside.
Take whole wheat flour and add green chilies, ginger, onion, anardana, carom seeds, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt. Mix them well. Add bathua and mix.
First add that water in which bathua was soaked and start kneading the dough. As that water wasn’t enough so you can use extra water as well. Knead a normal dough and rest it for 10-15 minutes.
Now a portion of dough and roll it with rolling pin. Dust flour wherever needed. Cook it on tawa by applying desi ghee or oil.
Bathua ka paratha is ready. Enjoy with dahi or hot cup of tea.
NOTES
Prefer not to add kasuri methi or coriander leaves in the dough because bathua has its own unique taste and flavour, which may get dominated by kasuri methi or coriander leaves.
