There’s an endless variety of Modak made across the country and different parts of India have their own versions and methods of making Modak. However the present one is the most easy Nariyal Modak recipe without cooking.

The present recipe is an instant coconut modak for Ganesh Chaturthi which requires least ingredients. The process is so so simple that you feel like doing nothing. 

This soft and delicious coconut modak recipe is our first ever modak recipe and before that, we used to think that making modak list home is indeed a hard task. Hence we chose this coconut modak recipe for beginners and now we feel that making modak is easiest of all the sweets. 

Actually the stuff for modak is not something very unusual, but anything which can be set into barfi or laddo can be turned into modak. 

The traditional Modak is usually made of rice flour with a coconut jaggery stuffing and both the flour and stuffing needs to go through a cooking process. This is not the case with this Ukadiche Modak only, but mostly ever modak needs to go through a cooking process. But for making this easy homemade Nariyal modak recipe, you don’t have to switch on any cooking appliances even. 

In nutshell, in making the present coconut modak recipe with simple ingredients, you don’t require desi ghee or mawa and also no cooking, roasting, steaming or lengthy preparation involved.

Step Wise Pictorial Recipe of No Cook Coconut Modak Recipe

 

Take a bowl and add desiccated coconut, milk powder, powdered sugar, cardamom powder and nuts.

Give them a good mix.

Now start adding chilled milk, little at a time, and start mixing with hand.

Make a dough of slightly tight consistency.

Stuff the mixture in a greased modak mould.

Nariyal modak are ready.

Garnish with saffron strands and celebrate.

NOTES

  1. Instead of powdered sugar, you can use bura sugar or shakkar.
  2. You have to be extra extra careful while adding the milk. In case extra milk will be added accidentally, recipe may spoil, which can only be adjusted by adding more dessicated coconut. But in such a case, the balance of ingredients will get spoiled. So add the milk spoon by spoon.

1 cup = 250 ml

  • 1 cup dessicated coconut
  • 1 cup milk powder
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup mixed nuts (almonds, cashews & pistachios)
  • Chilled milk as required
  • Saffron strands for garnish
