When it comes to parathas, it is always those wheat flour regular parathas come to the mind but you need a jolt here, because we have something uncommon here and that too is a paratha.
Parathas are such a comfort food in Indian households since ages but there has always been an air tight concept regarding it that they can only be made using whole wheat flour but we are here to break those stereotypes.
Even prior to this, we have broken a stereotype by making parathas using suji (semolina).
This rice flour paratha is a unique twist to the usual wheat flour paratha which is naturally gluten-free, light & easy to digest.
Besides, this recipe comes with more benefits. You need not to knead the dough with the similar efforts needed for kneading wheat flour. Secondly, there’s no need to prepare the stuffing separately. Everything goes into one bowl and the delicious parathas are ready.
This is not just a great and new breakfast option but a great idea to serve something new for lunchboxes, evening snacks or even travel food. This is such a filling yet wholesome option for kids and adults alike.
Although these parathas are enough in itself but still you can pair it with curd, pickle, chutney or even a hot cup of tea.
STEP WISE PICTORIAL RECIPE OF RICE FLOUR MASALA PARATHA
Take rice flour in a bowl. Also add rest of the ingredients, except water, mentioned in the recipe card given at the end of the post. Give them a good mix.
Now add boiling hot water and mix with spatula. Put a lid and rest for 5-10 minutes.
Now knead the mixture into a smooth dough with oily hands. Cover again and rest for 15-20 minutes.
Now take a portion of dough, round it and roll with rolling pin. Dust dry rice flour wherever needed.
To give it an appropriate round shape, use any round lid and remove the extra edges.
Cook it on tawa after applying oil on both sides.

RICE FLOUR MASALA PARATHA – RECIPE CARD

Rice flour masala paratha
Ingredients
1 cup = 250 ml
- 2 cups rice flour
- 2 tbsp onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp ginger chilli paste
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp amchur
- 1 tsp kasuri methi
- 2 tbsp desiccated coconut (optional)
- 1 tbsp oil + extra for frying
- 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves
- 2 cups boiling hot water
Instructions
- Take rice flour in a bowl. Also add rest of the ingredients, except water, mentioned above.
- Give them a good mix.
- Now add boiling hot water and mix with spatula.
- Put a lid and rest for 5-10 minutes.
- Now knead the mixture into a smooth dough with oily hands.
- Cover again and rest for 15-20 minutes.
- Now take a portion of dough, round it and roll with rolling pin. Dust dry rice flour wherever needed.
