Roasted Makhana in airfryer with step wise pictorial and video method.
Makhana also called phool makhana are the Hindi words for Fox Nuts, Lotus seeds.
Grown in the wet lands of Asian Countries, makhana has gained worldwide popularity due to the health benefits associated with this.
With the passage of time, people are getting to know about this fibre and protein rich super food and as a result regular unhealthy fried snacks are being replaced by roasted Makhanas.
Although you can make sabji and even kheer with this Lotus seed, but most prominently it is eaten as a snack.
The most common method of roasting it to shallow fry it in some oil but we preferred it to roast it in Airfryer for more healthier version.
Health conscious people, especially who are looking for weight loss are prone to this seed. Most of them usually keep these roasted seeds in their belongings and just munch whenever feel like having anything.
Makhana is something that can be eaten during fast also, so you can make this recipe during those days too, omitting the ingredients barred during fasting.
As far as the storage of these roasted Makhanas are concerned, you must store them in airtight container otherwise they will turn soggy.
Furthermore, it is very important to understand that store them only when they turn completely cool otherwise they will turn soggy even on storing in airtight jar.
If talking about their shelf life, better to finish then before 15 days.
STEP WISE PICTORIAL RECIPE OF ROASTED MAKHANA IN AIRFRYER
1.Add makhana in a big bowl.
2. Add all other ingredients i.e. cumin powder, red chilli powder, black salt, dry mango powder, oil and salt.
3. Use your hand to mix everything so that makhana is well coated.
4. Put then in air fryer basket.
5. Air fry @180°C/356°F for 3-4 minutes.
6. Open the basket and crush a piece of makhana. If it has turned crunchy, it is done otherwise air fry more for a minute or two.
Roasted Makhana is ready.

- 4 cup/100 gram makana/ Lotus seeds
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp black salt
- 1 tsp dry mango powder
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Add makhana in a big bowl.
- Add all other ingredients i.e. cumin powder, red chilli powder, black salt, dry mango powder, oil and salt.
- Use your hand to mix everything so that makhana is well coated.
- Put then in air fryer basket.
- Air fry @180°C/356°F for 3-4 minutes.
- Open the basket and crush a piece of makhana. If it has turned crunchy, it is done otherwise air fry more for a minute or two.
