WHAT ARE SPRING ROLLS?
Spring rolls are a popular snack wherein noodles cooked with veggies are filled in a cylindrical rolls made of all purpose flour dough sheets.
These spring rolls are generally deep fried and a most common and loved Indo-chinese street fruit in India.
ORIGIN OF SPRING ROLLS
Springs rolls belong to China and during the spring season and also for the Spring Festival, they are made there.
This is the reason this Chinese snack is named so.
A DIFFERENT VERSION OF FRIED SPRING ROLLS
Here we are making this recipe in a different manner than the traditional method and believe this, it is the most easy way to do spring rolls at home.

TRADITIONAL METHOD
Final outcome is though the same, but traditional making of making it little different.
As far as outer crust is concerned, it is cooked separately.
A batter made of all purpose flour is prepared and spread on a non stick pan. Then a thin sheet is prepared and it is later used as a wrapper.
Also, when the rolls are shaped, they are deep fried till brown and crisp.
But we neither cooked separate sheets nor deep fried them making our recipe more easy and convenient.
SPRING ROLLS – A PARTY SNACK
This spring roll recipe is such a delicious party snack everyone would love to enjoy, especially the kids.
You can make them ahead of time and fry (either deep or air) on the very moment when guests arrive.
Even these can be made a part of kids tiffin.
FROZEN SPRING ROLLS IN AIR FRYER
Following the same procedure given in this recipe, you can make frozen spring roll air fryer which takes less than 10 minutes to cook.
Just brush the frozen spring rolls, preheat air fryer for 5 minutes and air fry spring rolls from both the sides for 4 to 5 minutes from each side i.e. totaling 10 minutes.
Similar time is taken by the air fryer rice paper spring rolls.
HOW TO REHEAT SPRING ROLLS IN AIR FRYER?
To reheat spring rolls in air fryer, just preheat the air fryer at 400 F, place the spring rolls in basket and heat for 2 to 5 minutes with a close watch when the skin begins to turn more brown and crisp.
STEP WISE PICTORIAL METHOD OF AIR FRIED SPRING ROLLS
MAKING OF DOUGH
1. Add flour, salt and oil in a bowl.
2. Give them a good mix.
3. Start adding water slowly to knead a dough.
4. Knead a tight dough.
5. Cover the dough and put it for rest until filling is ready.
PREPARATION OF FILLING
6. Add oil and ginger garlic paste in a pan and saute.
7. Add onion, carrots, cabbage, capsicum and spring onion greens. Saute.
8. Then add soya sauce, chilli sauce, vinegar, salt and black pepper powder.
9. Saute the veggies on high heat for 2-3 minutes but make sure veggies should not loose their crunch.
10. Lastly add boiled Noodles and give a good mix.
11. Keep the pan off the heat and let the filling cool down completely.
MAKING OF SLURRY
12. Mix flour and water in a small bowl to make a slurry of thick but flowing consistency.
SHAPING OF ROLLS
13. Take a small portion of dough and roll it between your palms.
14. Place a ball over a flour dusted surface.
15. Roll the ball into a round disc as thin as possible.
16. Take a tablespoon or as much needed of filling and place it on one side of the disc.
17. Fold the disc from the corners as shown in the picture.
18. Start rolling tightly beginning with the side carrying the filling.
19. Apply some slurry on the end so that the disc gets sealed properly.
20. Now the disc has come into the shape of a proper cylindrical roll having the sides sealed.
AIR FRYING THE ROLLS
21. Grease the air fryer basket with oil.
22. Place the rolls inside but don’t over crowd the basket and add as much as can be accommodated easily.
23. Apply oil all over the rolls.
24. Preheat the air fryer @ 200°C/392°F for 5 minutes.
25. Put the basket inside and air fry @200° C/392°F for 10 minutes.
26. After 10 minutes are over, turn the sides of all the rolls.
27. Apply oil over the top of Rolls.
28. Air fry again at the similar temperature for 5 minutes.
29. Spring Rolls are ready.
Enjoy after cutting them into pieces with tomato ketchup.
NOTES
Our spring rolls were ready in 15 minutes. However how long to cook spring rolls in air fryer varies from air fryer to air fryer.

Ingredients
1 cup = 200 ml
FOR THE DOUGH
- 1.5 Cup All Purpose Flour
- Salt a pinch
- 1 tbsp Oil
- Water for kneading dough
FOR PREPARING FILLING
- 2 Cup Noodles (boiled)
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1/2 Cup Spring Onion bulb/onion
- 1/2 Cup Carrots (finely chopped)
- 1/2 Cup Capsicum (finely chopped)
- 1/2 Cup Cabbage (shredded)
- 1/2 Cup Spring Onion greens
- 1 tbsp Soya sauce
- 1 tbsp Chilly Sauce
- 1 tbsp Vinegar
- 1 tsp black pepper powder
- Salt to taste
FOR MAKING SLURRY
- 1 tbsp All purpose flour
- 3-4 tbsp water
FOR SHAPING ROLLS
- Dough
- Filling
- Slurry
- Flour for dusting
FOR AIR FRYING ROLLS
- Raw Rolls
- Oil as needed
Instructions
