Also known as the festival of lights, diwali is one of the most significant festivals celebrated across India. This festival is celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm throughout the country. People visit each other to greet and exchange gifts and sweets.
The flavors of this festival are, however, incomplete without lip smacking sweets and snacks. There are several recipes which you can prepare for consumption at your home because several guests are supposed to visit you. Also you can prepare any of these sweets/snacks and gift to your near and dear ones.
Diwali snacks can be stored for days and weeks. So when some guests have arrived you this diwali, you don’t need to keep engaged in the kitchen for hours. Just prepare a tea and open the lid of boxes carrying any or all the below snacks and serve. Isn’t so easy ?? So lets begin.

Tagar : Tagar or boora, also spelled as bura is a kind of powdered sugar which is used in making ladoos, pedas, panjiri and many of the sweet (mithai) recipes. This itself is not a dish to be eaten but a must if you want to make your sweets as tasty as you get from market. Roasted Chana Barfi : This is the most easy barfi recipe you may have ever came across as it involves no cooking, just one tbsp of desi ghee and under 20 minutes of preparation time.
Baked Besan Ladoo : Sweets are everyone’s favourite and many of the health reasons doesn’t allow us to consume sweets being loaded with ghee and refined sugar. So to come out of that dilemma, here’s a recipe of sweet which is baked in oven instead of roasting in loads of desi ghee and is made in just 2 tablespoons of ghee and the sugar here used is Khandsari instead of that refined sugar.
Palang Tod : Decades old sweet Palang Tod being made prior to 1947 using just 4 ingredients. You can have it during fasting, festivals or any special occasion. A recipe worth trying Diwali.
Doodh Peda : Doodh Peda or also called as milk peda is a traditional sweet usually made on festivals. Very quick and easy to prepare, doodh pedas are highly delicious and melt in mouth.

Imarti : Imarti is the most popular sweet from north india and is made with urad dal flour batter. Looks like Jalebi, but actually it is no way close to Jalebi in taste. This is definitely one of the best recipe to try coming diwali.
jammu chocolate : jammu chocolate is a lip smacking sweet which is very easy to prepare with just 3 basic ingredients. Made in the city of temples jammu only, chocolate is there in the name of this sweet only but not the recipe. Gulab Jamun with khoya and paneer : When it’s a festival of diwali, how one can forget about Gulab Jamun. Though gulab jamuns can be prepared using differnt methods, but making them with khoya and paneer is the traditional, authentic and tastiest one.
Moong Dal Ladoo : Moong Dal Ladoo is a delightful Indian sweet treat made from roasted moong dal (split yellow lentils), ghee, and sugar. Churma Ladoo : It is a delightful Indian sweet made from coarsely ground flour, sweetener and ghee. Unlike the traditional frying method, this version is prepared by roasting method and combining it with aromatic spices, creating a healthier and equally delicious treat. Here in this recipe, we have used semolina in place of any other flour and the ladoos were equally delicious and awesome.
moong dal namkeen : ready with just 3 basic ingredients, this moong dal namkeen is very popular and most loved namkeen recipe. add it to your diwali namkeen recipes and keep munching as and when you like.
Gujia : Gujia, also called Karanji has special space over the festival. Made with 5 minutes khoya recipe and baking instead of frying makes it worth cherishing by the diet conscious people too.
Coconut barfi : Asking for simple 3 ingredients and 30 minutes, this is the most economical recipe which you would love to enjoy on Diwali. This coconut barfi recipe neither ask for condensed milk nor milk powder or khoya/mava, hence making it cheapest of all the sweets.

Besan Masala Sev : This is such a recipe which you can make 2 to 3 months ahead of diwali. A well known and loved by all tea time snack is so easy in making and appealing too.
Bhakerwadi : A spicy tea time snack made with flour and few spices from Maharashtra is so addictive that you can’t stop at one. Traditionally this recipe is deep fried but we have baked it for healthier version and there’s no second opinion that even the baked one is equally delicious.
Dalia Ladoo :- Dalia also named as broken wheat in english is one of the famous health food which is even added in the diet plan of toddlers also. Louki aur Nariyal ki barfi :- We made this recipe on some other occasion as a trial and were not sure about its taste. But when tasted, it was simply out of the world. Ghee residue and besan Ladoo : Besan ke ladoo on the occasion of diwali is something very common sweet to try and we are taking the recipe of besan laddu little ahead with the addion of leftover desi ghee residue in it. As stated from time to time in different recipes, ghee residue can always be replaced with khoya so no worries if you are not having ghee residue. Bread Gulab Jamun :- Prepared with the bread and stuffing of khoya, this bread gulab jamun is indeed a great sweet recipe to surprise your kids and guests. They are too close to the other regular gulab jamuns, not just in terms of shape and appearance, but by taste also. When we served them to our guests, they couldn’t recognize that it is being made of bread.
Khoya Gulab Jamun : This recipe is titled as Khoya gulab jamun but actually they are not made with regular khoya but with leftover desi ghee residue. Actually ghee residue is also named as khoya so you can call it with the given name. These gulab jamuns are no way different in taste and texture from the gulab jamuns made with regular khoya or mava. However, in case you don’t have ghee residue, you can use regular khoya in the same quantity by following the similar process.
Chenna Murki :- These no ghee, no butter, no oil white beauties from the land of Bengal is an instant sweet made with just 2 basic ingredients and ready in about 15 – 20 minutes is ideal for any special occasion. This is it is diwali around the corner, so decorate your diwali with these beautiful pearls.
Rice Flour Ladoo : These gluten free ladoos are made with rice flour, malai and sugar. They are so delicious and made without using expensive ingredients like milk powder, khoya/mawa or condensed milk.
Kaja :- Kaja, Khaja, Tapeswaram Kaja, Gottam Kaja or Madatha Kaja is a Traditional Andhra crispy sweet. The word “khaja” is originated from Arabic, probably meaning “pure” or “sacred”. And if we go by its meaning, this is the most ideal recipe for diwali. The best part of this recipe is that you don’t require any expensive ingredient to make it. If you have all purpose flour and sugar, you are done.
Shahi Tukda :- This tempting sweetdish is originated from the period of Mughals – very rich in taste, aroma and appearance. The sweet & creamy texure of rabri over a crunchy bread is out of the world. Truly a Royal dish in the real sense of the term.
Jalebi :- Either it is any special occasion or festival or not, Jalebi is evergreen sweet loved by the people across. In the present recipe, the unique point you will find that it is made with the leftover cooked white rice. Go and try this unusual recipe this diwali.
