Soya sticks is the first recipe we have created after purchasing sev press, also called as kitchen press. This recipe is simple but looks adorable because of kitchen press. Sticks of soya dough is created with the help of kitchen press which comprises of several rounds of designer holes. We have used a particular hole for creating these sticks, whose picture is shared hereunder :
Couple of months ago, we had prepared raw soya chaaps at home & for that made soya flour too at home. Only few spoons of soya flour was used in making raw soya chaaps & we were left with about one cup of soya flour. The present recipe also helped us in utilizing the leftover soya flour.
So lets begin with the recipe of soya sticks namkeen.

Step wise pictorial recipe of soya sticks namkeen
- Take a bowl and add soya flour and besan.
- Now add other ingredients i.e. carom seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, black pepper, coriander powder, salt & baking soda. Mix them.
- Then add 1/4 cup of oil and bind the mixture with hand.
- With the help of water, knead a soft but non sticky dough. Be careful while adding water. Add very less water in one time.
- Now grease the sev press & put sufficient amount of dough in the sev press.
- Press directly into hot oil & let the sticks fry. Make sure don’t press much sticks in oil which creates a mess. This way your soya sticks may break while frying.
- Fry the sticks till they turn golden brown and likewise make more sticks and bring them out on paper nepkin to release extra oil.
Enjoy with a cup of hot tea or coffee once they cool down completely.
NOTES
- Don’t put soya sticks in airtight container while they are hot, otherwise, they will turn soggy. Before shifting to airtight container, make sure they are cool completely.
- Soya sticks remain good for about a month.

Ingredients
- 1 cup soya flour
- 1 cup Besan/chickpea flour
- 1/2 tsp carom seeds
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tsp Red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 cup oil
- Oil for frying
- Water as per need
