Paneer slices rolled in spiced palak leaves quoted in besan batter and then fried to crisp and golden brings the ultimate comfort.

This recipe not just provides a tea time snack but a healthier, flavour-packed version of regular pakoras which without any doubt is good for both kids and adults because of the iron-rich spinach and protein-rich paneer.

This recipe is a perfect appetiser for parties, kitty gatherings, and evening snacking and you can serve it with fresh green chutney or Instant Chutney premix which gets ready in seconds.

It can be turned into delicious palak Paneer chaat with chutneys, curd and sev. To make it more attractive for the kids, you can add cheese cubes as well.

STEP WISE PICTORIAL RECIPE OF PALAK PANEER PAKODE RECIPE

 

MARINATION OF PANEER 

Sprinkle red chilli powder, salt, garam masala and chaat masala on paneer which is cut into thick sticks. Mix well and leave aside till needed.

MAKING OF BATTER

Add besan, rice flour, salt, turmeric, carom seeds and green chilli ginger paste in a bowl. 

Slowly add water and making a thick batter. Keep aside.

SHAPING AND MAKING PAKODAS

Dip a pre-washed spinach leaf in hot water for 15-20 seconds to soften it.

Break the stalk part and place the leaf on a surface.

Spread besan batter on it. Put a stick of paneer on the leaf.

Wrap the paneer stick with spinach leaf.

Likewise warp the entire paneer sticks and keep aside.

Now dip each wrapped paneer in besan batter one by one.

Put them in the hot oil. Fry from both the sides till golden and crisp.

Serve hot with fresh green chutney or Instant Chutney premix.

Ingredients
  

1 cup = 250 ml

FOR MARINATING PANEER

FOR BESAN BATTER

  • 1.5 cup Besan/gram flour
  • 2-4 tbsp rice flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp carom seeds
  • 1 tbsp green chilli ginger paste
  • Water as required

FOR MAKING PAKODE

  • 16 spinach leaves
  • Oil for frying
