Raisins Jam Recipe with step wise pictorial and video method.

Free from artificial sweeteners, Raisin jam is a naturally sweet, thick spread made with plump raisins and the least ingredients almost equal to none.

Jam is something being loved by one and all irrespective of the age but mostly elderly people and those avoiding heavy dose of sugar can’t have it.

But this jam is totally free from all kind of artificial sweeteners and hence completely guilt free and you can have it without any hitch.

Actually we got this idea after a deep thought given to leftover raisins in the refrigerator. Actually in our city, there’s a trend that people usually give a box of almonds and raisins as part of wedding invitation. Almonds go into use instantly but raisins remain there in the box as abundant stuff because in our family no one likes raisins even in desserts.

So we had couple of boxes of raisins and the idea of making a jam clicked. With this recipe we have finished the second batch of raisins and with the first batch, we made eggless sugarfree raisins cake, which was also appreciated by one and all.

Let’s have a glimpse over the ingredients and some important tips about the recipe:

RAISINS: we have used golden raisins because we got these only…lol. However you can use black raisins as well.

But make sure to wash them before use because raisins catch dust easily due to moist texture.

Also soaking them is necessary for getting a soft spreadable texture.

CINNAMON: Very little cinnamon is added for fragrance and taste. Instead of 1/4 tsp of cinnamon, you can add pinch of nutmeg.

LEMON JUICE: Lemon juice not only delivers it’s tanginess to the jam but also works as a preservative.

So do try this easy and healthy homemade jam perfect for spreading on toast, pancakes or pairing with desserts.

STORAGE

This recipe should be kept in clean sterilized jar and can be stored in refrigerator for upto 2 weeks.

STEP WISE PICTORIAL RECIPE OF RAISINS JAM RECIPE :

Wash raisins and put into a bowl. Add boiling water and mix.

Immediately put a lid on the bowl so that heat shouldn’t escape. Rest for 1 hour. Alternatively you can soak raisins for 3-4 hours or overnight in water at room temperature.

After one hour, put the raisins alongwith soaking water in a grinder jar. Also put a piece of cinnamon equivalent to 1/4 tsp of powdered cinnamon. But in case you have cinnamon powder, save to add later.

Grind to a chunky puree. However you can make it totally smooth depending on your preference.

Transfer the puree in a heavy bottomed pan. (If you haven’t added cinnamon stick earlier, add the powder now). Leave to simmer.

Keep stirring at intervals. Puree will keep on shrinking with each passing minute. But don’t miss to stir.

After about 30 minutes of cooking, the puree will attain the thick consistency, much like jam.

Take the pan off the heat and add lemon juice in it. Mix.

Leave to cool completely.
