ABOUT THE COOKIES

These cookies aren’t just Vegan and Glutenfree, but they are completely free from sugar and flour too.

Made with just 3 Ingredients, these cookies have no butter, no milk, no baking soda and no baking powder.

TEXTURE & TASTE OF THE COOKIES

Unlike other Cookies, who generally have Crispy and crunchy texture, these cookies are form from outside but soft and chew within, hence you can call them mouth melting cookies without an iota of doubt.

If talking about their taste, yes these are sweet but only having the natural sweetener coming from banana and raisins.

And how sweet they are totally depends on how ripe are your bananas.

INGREDIENTS USED

OATS : To make these cookies, we have used old fashioned oats aka rolled oats. These are the oats which brings flavour, nutty & chewy texture to the cookies.

For a very smooth texture, you can even use the oats flour or just blitz oats into powder. But personally we love the coarse texture.

BANANAS : Thanks to almighty there’s something different than cakes with leftover ripe bananas.

If you ever have ripe to overripe bananas and ask anyone what to make out of it, there’s always one suggestion, “Banana Cake/bread” or at the most “Banana pancakes”.

Ripe bananas are something you usually find in any home and this is irritating to make cake/bread everytime.

Though we too have made different cakes using ripe bananas and many a times banana pancakes too. But now this is over. We are fed up.

Bananas here aren’t working as a just sweetener but they are the binding agent too.

Moreso the sweetness of your cookies totally depends on the fact that how sweet your bananas are. Though we can’t underestimate the role of raisins, the next Ingredient.

Rich in vitamins and minerals, banana makes this already fiber rich cookies, more fibrous.

RAISINS : A good source of vitamins and iron, raisins are already having high sugar content, which helps in retaining moisture.

So raisins do help in keeping the  cookies soft for several days.

A FLEXIBLE RECIPE

You can call it a flexible recipe for so many reasons.

One, to make the recipe, you really need not to measure or weight the Ingredients, though measuring helps.

Add as many bananas you want to, mash. Then add oats by rough measurement and lastly a handful of raisins. Mix.

If you realise that the mixture has become too wet to form cookies, you can add a little more oats.

Alternatively, If the mixture becomes too dry, add more bananas. Simple.

But keep in mind that if you have less bananas in hand, then begin with a less amount of oats and add more if needed.

If you add too much of oats and in case mixture will become dry and there’s no more bananas you have, it will become little difficult to handle the mixture. Though honey, maple syrup can help there.

Secondly, this recipe is flexible because in addition to or in replacement of raisins, you can add choco chips or chopped nuts like almond, cashew, pecan, hazelnut, walnut or peanuts.

You can spice your cookies with cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla or nutmeg.

Can freely add Coconut, either desiccated, shredded or in the form of flakes.

May top your cookies with seeds like sunflower, pumpkin or melon.

So isn’t it so versatile?

ARE BANANA OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIES HEALTHY?

Healthy is not just a word which can be prefixed anywhere. You need to look into the contents and then decide aren’t these cookies are so healthy?

This is not a hidden fact that how healthy are the oats, bananas and raisins.

Moreso, this recipe has no loaded butter, baking soda, baking powder and flour, which makes these cookies light, full of vitamins, minerals and fiber, hence making these cookies healthy without any doubt.

HOW TO STORE BANANA OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIES?

These cookies remain good for 1 to 2 days in airtight container.

Same Cookies can be frozen too. First freeze in a single layer. Once frozen, transfer to an airtight container and these can be stored for up to 3 months.
