Halloween hand pie recipe | easy vegan Jam pie recipe with step wise pictorial and video method.
Halloween is around the corner and everyone must be keen to decide what to make eery for the 31st October party and fall season of course.
Right from drinks to cakes to chocolates to food to desserts, everything needs to be at par with the occasion.
But in all this fuss, don’t forget to woo children with what they love the most.
There’s hardly any kid who don’t like jam and without an iota of doubt, they love pies.
Don’t take it in exclusion to adults but here’s the spot light is on kiddos. Lol.
Halloween party is just incomplete without something spooky as part of the dinner table. So in the spirit of Fall, this deliciously eerir Pie shaped like a hand is made for maximum Halloween impact!
INGREDIENTS USED AND THEIR SUBSTITUTES
ALL PURPOSE FLOUR : This recipe is made using all purpose flour but in place of all purpose flour, you can use whole wheat flour or both the flours in the ratio of 50:50.
OIL : Usually Butter is added in the pie crust because it forms lofty, light, flaky layers in pie crust. This recipe being vegan, carries oil and oil too gave the best results.
But if you have vegan butter or vegetable shortening, use that comfortably.
But remember, if using oil, only use unflavored oil and not the one having strong aroma and flavor like mustard or peanut oil.
SALT : Salt always bring sharpness in sweet recipes so highly recommended to add in pinches.
WATER : The dough for the pie crust is kneaded with chilled water because chilled water doesn’t let the fats melt and helps in making the pie crust flaky.
MIX FRUITS JAM : This is a jam pie and we have used mix fruits jam. Actually we were looking for strawberry jam but couldn’t get it in the market.
Yes, there’s a binding with respect to the use of jam. You can use any jam of your choice but it must be red in colour because with the jam only, the blood effects can be given. You understand for sure !
MILK : Milk is needed just to give a final wash to pie. Giving milk wash helps in bringing golden brown top of the pie. As the recipe is vegan, we have used non dairy milk.
PIE FILLING IDEAS
This is a jam pie hence making a sweet treat.
However you can do the savoury filling too, of your own choice. And the blood effects can be given with tomato ketchup.
NON VEGAN OPTIONS
If you are not vegan, then few ingredients can be easily replaced.
OIL : Replace oil with butter.
MILK : Not necessarily non dairy, use regular milk for milk wash. You can even use beaten egg.
So enough of Apple pie is eaten. Its a time to cherish scary halloween hand pie. Lol
