Eggless Whole wheat Orange cookies | Simple orange cookies with step wise pictorial and video method.

Soft and chew cookies made with whole wheat flour, orange rind and orange pulp are so delicious that you can’t stop at one.

And the biggest thing is that all you need very basic and regular ingredients from the pantry.

INGREDIENTS USED

 

ORANGE: We have used a medium sized orange whose weight comes to 100 grams with peel.

If you manages to get peel then even store bought orange juice will work for you.

And you can go to the extent of omitting peel if manages to have orange essence/extract.

ORANGE PULP : When we eat an orange, we eat it all so why to extract only the juice out of it, this was the thought behind using the whole orange in the recipe.

You may go for only juice.

WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR : Though this is all purpose flour which is commonly used in baking cakes and cookies but we confine to whole wheat flour because of having faith in healthy baking.

You can feel free to use maida, if you like.

SUGAR : We have used bura sugar which is healthy and comes in a powdered form.

You can use refined sugar (after powdering), jaggery powder, cane sugar or any sugar or your choice.

Note that if you choose Jaggery powder or cane sugar, that will have an impact on the colour of your cookies.

BUTTER : We have used the unsalted butter in the recipe. This works as a fat content in the recipe.

BAKING POWDER/SODA : They are the leavening agents which make the cookies soft yet crunchy.

SALT : A pinch of salt for enhancing the taste.

 

 

STEP WISE PICTORIAL RECIPE OF ORANGE COOKIES RECIPE

 

  1. Take an orange and wash it (obviously it’s skin) very well.
  2. Remove the peel of the orange.
  3. Using a knife, scrub the white pith underneath peel of the orange.
  4. Cut the peel into thin strips and keep aside.
  5. Now remove the seeds from the orange.
  6. Place the orange in a grinder jar.
  7. Blend the orange into a puree and keep aside.
  8. Take a deep bowl and add butter and sugar in it.
  9. Blitz it to a creamy texture.
  10. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, orange peel and orange puree.
  11. Bring everything together into a dough using hand but without kneading.
  12. Make small balls out of the entire dough and arrange on baking tray lined with greased butter paper.
  13. Place the tray in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  14. Bake @180°C for 15-20 minutes on until edges turn slightly brown.
  15. Let them turn cool completely.

Eggless orange cookies are ready.

NOTES

1. Instead of orange pulp, you can use 1/4th cup of fresh orange juice.

2. You may add few drops of orange food colour for giving the orange feel to the appearance of cookies.

  • 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
