Indian Bread roll in air fryer | potato bread rolls recipe Indian with step wise pictorial and video method.
Bread roll is an Indian vegan deep fried appetizer commonly made with bread slices and potato stuffing.
This is such an easy tea time snack recipe that doesn’t require much of the ingredients. Bread slices, boiled potatoes, some regular spices and you are sorted.
I have been making this crispy bread roll recipe since years even before my marriage. And the most common occasion used to be my birthday when this was a sure shot dish of the evening. Even after my marriage, I never stopped keeping them as one of my birthday dish.
This recipe is so easy to make and the best part is that you can prep them in advance, even a day before and keep the raw rolls in refrigerator.
So if you have a party in the evening or planning to have them in the breakfast or tiffin, just shape them in the morning or night respectively. Thereafter the only task will be left to air fry/bake/deep fry them, as per your convenience.
INDIAN BREAD ROLL IN AIR FRYER WITH STEP WISE PICTORIAL RECIPE
MAKING OF STUFFING
1. Take a bowl, add potatoes and roughly mash them with a potato masher.
2. Add green peas, onion, green chilies, carom seeds, red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder, dry mango powder, fresh coriander and salt.
3. Give them a good mix. At this stage do taste them and adjust the seasoning if required. Keep aside.
FOR MAKING ROLLS
4. Take a slice of bread and dip it in water just for 1-2 seconds. The idea is just to moist the bread slice so that it becomes flexible for rolling. If you over wet the bread, it will break.
5. Squeeze the bread slice between your palm to drop out extra water. But be careful not to break the slice.
6. Make an oval shaped ball of potato stuffing and while keeping the moist bread slice in your open palm, place ball in the center of the slice.
7. Gently fold the bread and join the edges. Press the edges and seal them. Also press the top and bottom parts and seal them giving it a neat oval shape. (watch video attached to this post for better understanding).
8. Coat the rolls in breadcrumbs.
9. Put the rolls in air fryer basket and brush them with oil.
10. Air Fry @180°C for 30 minutes (time may vary depending on air fryer) or until rolls turn brown and crisp.
11. Bread rolls are ready. Serve hot with tomato ketchup or any dip of your choice.
NOTES
- You may add any other veggies too of your choice along with potatoes.
- The size and quantity of bread rolls will also depend upon the size of bread slice.
- You may remove the outer crust of the bread. As this too is edible, we didn’t find any logical reason to cut that part.
- Instead of air frying, you can bake the rolls as well.
- The another common option is to deep fry the rolls. But in such a case you need to be extra cautious that there shouldn’t be any open area all over the bread. If there’s any, the filling will leak out in oil while frying.
