MAKING OF PANCAKES

Put a sieve on a bowl.

Add flour, powdered sugar, milk powder, cocoa powder, salt and baking soda.

Sift the ingredients to the bowl.

Add vanilla essence and honey.

Mix.

Now start adding milk, but little at a time.

Keep whisking.

A batter of ribbon consistency is ready.

Now set a cup of laddle for pouring the batter. We have picked up a cup of 1/4 measurement.

Then take a non stick tawa/pan and grease it with very very little oil. Wipe the extra oil, if there’s any.

Pour selected cup or laddle full of batter in the very middle of tawa. Batter will spread by itself.

Put a lid and let it cook on lowest heat for 3-4 minutes.

The bubbles in the surface and firmness will make you realise that it’s time to flip.

Flip gently.

Let it cook on the other side too. This time no need to put a lid.

Finish all the cakes with the same process.

You can serve it right now as a pan cake only, but as this is a recipe for dora cakes, so we need to proceed ahead.

MAKING OF CHOCOLATE SPREAD

Take water in a saucepan and heat it.

Place another wide bowl on the saucepan.

Add dark chocolate chunks, powdered sugar, butter and milk.

Melt the ingredients on low heat.

Take the bowl off the heat and let chocolate cool down a bit.

Take one piece of pancake and spread chocolate sauce on one side of it.

Also spread chocolate sauce on the second pancake and join both the cakes together having chocolate stuffing in between.

Leave the cakes in refrigerator to set the chocolate properly.

Your dora cake is ready to be served. Cut into pieces of desired size and enjoy.

NOTES

  1. Instead of all purpose flour, you can use whole wheat flour or both the flours in the ratio of 50:50.
  2. The consistency of batter should not be too thin or thick. You can adjust the consistency by adding milk or flour, as the case may be.
  3. Cocoa powder is added to make it extra chocolaty. Otherwise you can skip it.
  4. Milk quantity may vary depending upon the fact which flour you are using.
  5. Vanilla essence and honey are optional but recommended.
  6. Condensed milk can also be used but in that case, skip milk powder, reduce or omit sugar and adjust the quantity of milk.
  7. Instead of making chocolate sauce at home, you can also use ready-made chocolate syrup also.
  8. Alternatively you can apply anything of your choice which can please your child, be it some fruit crush or cream or fruit jam or nutella.
