Homemade Curacao Syrup recipe with step wise pictorial and video method.

WHAT IS CURACAO SYRUP?

Curacao syrup, which is pronounced as “kyoo-ruh-sau” is a sweet syrup made from sugar, water, Cinnamon and orange.

USES OF CURACAO SYRUP

Curacao syrup is commonly used in cocktails and mocktails to add flavor and color, such as in drinks like the Blue Lagoon or the Curacao Cooler.

How one can miss to mention the classic favorites like the Blue Hawaiian and the Blue Margarita to creative concoctions like the Lake Water.

INGREDIENTS USED IN MAKING BLUE CURACAO SYRUP

ORANGE: To substitute for orange in making Curacao syrup, you can use other citrus fruits such as tangerine, mandarin, or even a combination of lemon and lime.

These are all the citrus fruits which can add the same zeal in the syrup, what orange is supposed to do.

WATER : Nothing to mention about it. If it’s a syrup, water is supposed to be there. Lol

SUGAR : Simple white granulated sugar is used in the making of this sugar. Do not use brown sugar in the making of this recipe because you can’t afford to disturb the colour of syrup at the end.

CINNAMON: This is added for extra flavour and fragrance.

LEMON JUICE: It is added in the syrup as a preservative. In place of lemon juice, you can add 1/2 tsp of citric acid.

FOOD COLOUR: As we are making the blue curacao syrup, you are supposed to add blue food colour in the syrup.

STORAGE OF HOMEMADE CURACAO SYRUP

This syrup can be stored in refrigerator for a month.

Cut the oranges.

Take out their juice. Keep aside.

Take a pan and add water, sugar, orange juice, cinnamon stick and orange zest.

Put on a heat. When the liquid begins to boil, boil for 6 minutes. Keep stirring occasionally.

During the last minute, add lemon juice and blue food colour.

Mix well.

Take the pan off the heat and let it cool completely.

Sieve it in a clean bottle. This is curacao syrup.
