Vegan Rice Paper Dumplings in Air Fryer with step wise pictorial and video method.
Your favorite stuffing inside the crispy rice papers and cooked with minimal oil makes this mouthwatering snack called rice paper dumplings.
Rice paper is something existing since ages but a latest internet sensation due to it’s versatility.
It is a very thin translucent papers originated in Vietnam made with rice and tapioca starch. They are popular for being vegan, gluten free, long shelf life, low in fat, easy and quick to use and for being suitable in making all kind of snacks, be it Savory or sweet.
Be it crispy dumplings, wraps, chips, samosas, and rolls, all can be possible with rice papers.
And one thing about these dumplings, you need not to be very strictly follow the list of ingredients. Prepare anything you want to eat as a stuffing, fill in rice papers, cook and enjoy.
STEP WISE PICTORIAL RECIPE OF VEGAN RICE PAPER DUMPLINGS IN AIR FRYER
Take cabbage, mushrooms, carrot, red, yellow & green bell peppers, green onion bulbs, broccoli florets and garlic cloves.
Chop them well.
Heat oil in a pan. Add the chopped veggies and salt. Also add sweet corns. Saute on high heat for 2-3 minutes. Veggies shouldn’t loose their crunch.
Add vinegar, soya sauce, green chilli sauce and tomato ketchup. Give a good mix and cook for a minute only.
Lastly add spring onion greens and give a gentle mix. Make sure there remains no water left in the stuffing. Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool down completely.
If making the dumplings in air fryer or oven, grease the basket/oven tray with oil. In case making it pan, add oil in pan. In simple terms, wherever you are going to cook them, keep that device/utensil ready.
Take a wide plate with edges so that it can hold the water. Dip a rice paper from both sides just for 6-7 seconds. It should just turn soft and pliable. Don’t overdo otherwise it may tear apart or may become difficult to handle.
Immediately lay it down on a plate or clean surface. Put a tbsp or so stuffing in the middle of rice paper.
Wrap the stuffing inside the rice paper. For better understanding, watch the video attached to this post.
Put the wrap in air fryer basket. Apply oil on it to prevent it from drying.
Likewise make the second dumpling, place in air fryer and apply oil. If making the dumplings in pan, no need to oil them because they are going to be cooked in oil.
Air fry @170° Celsius for 8-10 minutes or until dumplings turn brown and crisp both sides.
Enjoy them hot with soya sauce dip. This is the same dip we made to eat cabbage rolls.
NOTES
- You can use any type of vegetables which can be eaten just by stir frying.
- Instead of vegetables you can make any kind of stuffing of your choice.
- For extra crispiness, you can double wrap the dumplings. Meaning thereby, wrap stuffing once in rice paper. Then take one more rice paper and wrap the already wrapped dumpling.
- Our air fryer basket could accommodate only 4 dumplings because they shouldn’t touch each other. So stop wrapping more until air fryer is ready again to make more because the raw dumplings prepared in advance may stick to the plate or turn dry.

1 Cup = 250 ml
- 1/4 cup cabbage (chopped)
- 1/4 cup mushrooms (chopped)
- 1/4 cup carrot (chopped)
- 1/4 cup red bell pepper (chopped)
- 1/4 cup yellow bell pepper (chopped)
- 1/4 cup green bell pepper (chopped)
- 2 green onion bulbs (chopped)
- 4-5 broccoli florets
- 3-4 garlic cloves
- 1/4 cup green onion greens
- 1/4 cup sweetcorns
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp white vinegar
- 1 tbsp soya sauce (gluten-free)
- 2 tbsp green or red chilli sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 tbsp sesame or vegetable oil
- 10-12 rice papers
