Steamed Ragi Chocolate Katori Cake Recipe

STEP WISE PICTORIAL RECIPE OF STEAMED RAGI CHOCOLATE KATORI CAKE RECIPE

 

Put a sieve on a bowl and add ragi flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt and walnuts. Sift them.

Then add powdered brown sugar, oil and vanilla essence. Mix them. Lastly add milk but little at a time and keep mixing. The batter should come to a ribbon consistency.

Add walnuts and mix. Divide the batter in greased steel katoris. Top with a piece of chocolate.

Steam cook for 20 minutes. Check by inserting a toothpick. If it comes out clean, its a sign that cake is thoroughly cooked.

Enjoy hot or wait until it is cool.

  1. If you have whole ragi grains, then first powder them, then measure.
  2. Brown sugar should be measured only after powdering.
  3. Walnuts are added while shifting so that they get coated with flour. This way they don’t sink in the batter.
  4. If you don’t have steel katoris, use any utensils which can be put to steamer.
  5. Instead of small portions, this batter can be made as a complete 1 big cake.

  • 3 tbsp/9 grams Cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup milk at room temperature
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 3 tbsp walnuts
  • Chocolate pieces
