Domino’s style cheesy garlic bread with step wise pictorial and video recipe.

Garlic Bread is a cheese stuffed bread topped with garlic butter and additional herbs, & then either grilled or broiled until toasted or baked in oven.

This is a classic side dish and served as a snack. You can enjoy this bread as it is or pair it with white sauce pasta, red sauce pasta or soup like veg manchow, pumpkin soup or anyone you like.

Earlier also, we have prepared a garlic bread but that was the instant version. You can better call that garlic toast recipe.

If you are craving for garlic bread and have no time in hand to make detailed garlic bread as shown in the present recipe, you can comfortably go for garlic toast.

We have cherished this garlic bread at the Dominos and thereafter started baking our own on realising how easy and tasty it is to make it at home! And yes, it tastes so much better. Above that, it makes the whole kitchen smell oh-so-good!

It’s garlic everywhere…ah.

The ingredients used in this Domino’s style cheesy garlic bread Recipe are so common and not expensive at all.

The best part of this recipe is that you can made it just before serving or prepare well ahead of time or even freeze.

Without any iota of doubt, it is one of the easiest, yummiest and simplest baked recipe, we have ever tried.

EXPERT TIPS FOR PERFECT WHOLEMEAL GARLIC BREAD

  1. Originally, garlic bread is made using all purpose flour, which gives more better results in terms of texture.
  2. You may find the recipes of garlic bread without yeast, but the dough proofed with yeast gives better texture to the bread.
  3. Don’t make garlic bread if yeast fails to activate. All your efforts will go waste.
  4. Dough must be kneaded for good 10 minutes.
  5. Don’t overload the stuffing. It will ooze out while baking.

ACTIVATING YEAST

1.Take a small bowl and add luke warm water in it.

2. Add sugar and mix until sugar dissolves.

3. Add yeast, mix and keep aside for 8 to 10 minutes for activating. (See notes below).

4. In 8-10 minutes, yeast will turn bubbly, frothy and can be seen as a foamy stuff on the surface of water. Proceed with the recipe only if yeast has activated this way. Otherwise do not make the recipe.

KNEADING THE DOUGH

5. Take a wide bowl or and add flour in it.

6. Add oregano, salt, garlic powder and mix.

7. Create a space in the center of flour and add yeast mixture.

8. Mix everything together well.

9. Start adding water, very less at a time, and begin to knead the dough.

10. Once dough has come together, add about 2 tsp of oil and knead it for at least 10 minutes. This 10 minutes kneading is very important for a good textured garlic bread.

11. After 10 minutes, grease the bowl with oil and put the dough in it.

12. Apply little oil all over the dough too.

13. Put a kitchen towel on the bowl, place a lid and keep the bowl at some warm area of kitchen for proofing the dough for about 2 hours.

MAKING OF GARLIC BUTTER

14. Take a butter in a bowl. Butter must be melted.

15. Add roughly chopped garlic. You can add the finely crushed garlic too.

16. Then add finely chopped coriander leaves/cilantro.

17. Mix well and keep aside.

MAKING OF GARLIC BREAD

18. After 2 hours, remove the cover from the dough. The dough must have doubled in size by now. (see notes).

19. Knead it with light hands.

20. Divide dough into 2 equal portions.

21. Take the first portion and roll it into a smooth ball using your palms.

22. Put it on a wheat flour dusted surface and dust some flour on the ball too.

23. Start rolling it using rolling pin. Don’t roll it too much thin.

24. Apply garlic butter all over the rolled disk except the edges. (see notes)

25. Put about 3 tbsp of mozzarella cheese on one side of the disc.

26. Sprinkle oregano and red chili flakes.

27. Apply some water on the edges of disc.

28. Now lift the disc from one end and fix it on the other end. It will look like D.

29. Seal the edges properly otherwise cheese may ooze out while baking.

30. Transfer the bread in a baking tray lined with greased butter paper or parchment paper.

31. Apply garlic butter all over.

32. With the help of knife, mark the cuts on the bread. The cuts are to be just light and don’t pierce it through the entire bread.

33. Sprinkle some red chili flakes and mix herbs.

34. Bake in preheated oven for 200°C/392F in the middle rack for 15-20 minutes or until breads attain a nice golden top. You can shift the tray from middle to top rack if you feel breads are ready but haven’t attained the right colour. Act as per the performance of your oven.

35. Once done, bring the tray out of the oven.

Your wheat garlic bread is ready. Cut into sticks from the already placed marks and enjoy hot or cold.

NOTES

  1. Active yeast needs proofing but if you are using instant yeast, no need to activate it. To know more about yeast and its use, read here.
  2. Whole wheat flour can be replaced with maida/all purpose flour or both in equal quantity.
  3. Instead of water, you can use milk to activate yeast and knead the dough.
  4. If you don’t have garlic powder, then finely crush 3-4 garlic cloves and add to the flour.
  5. Likewise, if you don’t wanna use butter, then go for olive oil.
  6. Proofing time of dough may vary depending on whether conditions. You may need less than 2 hours or may be more than 2.
  7. If you apply butter on edges, then the sides will find it difficult to attach and stick to each other. So leave the edges blank for applying water.
