To make sure your Besan Stuffed Capsicum Rings turn out perfect every time, here are four essential tips:
- Avoid Excess Water in the Batter:
While mixing the besan batter, use water sparingly. The batter should have a thick, spoonable consistency so it stays put when you fill the capsicum rings. If the batter is too liquidy, it will run out of the rings, making it difficult to achieve the intended stuffed look. Keeping the batter on the thicker side helps ensure that the stuffing remains inside the capsicum rings and cooks evenly.
2. Keep the Rings Narrow:
When slicing the capsicum, aim for rings that are not too wide. If the rings are cut too thick, the filling inside may end up undercooked even after cooking. Narrower rings allow the besan batter to cook thoroughly without leaving any raw spots. Ideally, slice them just wide enough to hold a modest amount of batter, ensuring a balanced texture between the capsicum and filling.
3. Cook on Low Heat:
Besan, or gram flour, tends to cook quickly on the outside while remaining uncooked within, especially if the heat is too high. To avoid this, cook the rings on the lowest heat setting. Low heat allows the batter to cook evenly from the inside out, resulting in a soft yet fully cooked filling. Rushing the process by increasing the heat may lead to burnt edges with a raw center, so patience is key.
4. Cover the Pan While Cooking:
Another key to perfectly cooked Besan Stuffed Capsicum Rings is to cover the pan as they cook. This traps the heat inside, allowing the capsicum to soften and the besan filling to cook thoroughly. Covering also ensures that the flavors meld beautifully, making the dish as tender and flavorful as possible.
So let’s go for such a delicious piece of food.

Instructions
- Take a bowl and add besan, ginger garlic paste, onion, red chilli powder, cumin seeds, garam masala and coriander leaves. Mix.

- Drizzle some oil in a non stick pan.
- Place the capsicum rings.
- Pour some batter in the middle of the rings. Make sure not to put too much batter. It will cause the batter to flow out of the rings and also besan will remain raw.
