WHAT IS CORN CHAAT ?

Boiled corns sauteed in butter and seasoned with exciting spices makes this tongue tingling chaat recipe called corn chaat.

SWEET CORN SNACK RECIPES INDIAN

From amongst all the recipes made using sweet corn, this is the second most loved recipe after roasted corn cob.

And if talking about the present one, this is most popular, specially amongst children.

Though not being sold on every nook and corner of the city, but it is treated as a street food recipe.

You will find it mostly in shopping malls and cinema theatres.

COOKING METHODS

Here we have made it by boiling the corns whereas street vendors make it by steaming the corns.

A big streamer placed on their carrier is always loaded with the corns which are getting steamed.

When the customer go to them to buy the corns, they just take some out of streamer, mixes few spices, squeeze lemon and serve hot.

And it is to be noted that they are traditionally served in disposable paper cups along with disposable plastic spoons.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

So far we have always been buying it and eating from outside and for the first time made at home.

After eating a major portion, little was left behind and thought of consuming them later.

Do note, we didn’t spiced it in parts and made them ready in one go.

Realized, the left out part became quite soggy, probably it get exposed to air as well remained in butter coating and moist due to lemon.

So, it is SUGGESTED either to finish it in one go immediately after making or season only that part which you are intending to use.

VEGAN OPTIONS

The only dairy product in this recipe is butter.

To make it vegan friendly, either use vegan butter or oil.

Though oil is not going to provide that typical taste and aroma, which we get from dairy butter.

So go for it before they leave the farms, as it is available during monsoon season only, going on in India.
