ABOUT THE POST

This recipe is in our blog since long and it has received lots of love and appreciation from our readers so far.

Many have tried it and shared their success on instagram and Facebook.

Today we are editing this recipe with more useful content and new images.

Though we have made changes in the process too, but they are too minor and hardly different than the previous version.

AN EASY CAKE RECIPE

Undoubtedly we always try to bring easy and simple recipes in our blog and in the same series, this is another one.

Look at the list of Ingredients below and you will realize that there’s hardly any thing which you don’t keep in your pantry.

This cake asks for no fency techniques or Ingredients. It is such a simple fuss free cake that even your kids can join you in baking.

INGREDIENTS USED

WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR

We have preferred to use whole wheat flour instead of all purpose flour (maida) because people love to add wheat in their food instead of maida, be it a case of cakes.

But you are free to use all purpose flour completely on in the ratio of 50:50.

CUSTARD POWDER

This is one Ingredient which is available in every indian kitchen.

Be it custard pudding, fruit custard, caramel custard or custard ice cream etc, you can make many desserts with it.

In this blog, you will find the recipe of custard Cookies here.

Custard powder comes in number of flavours like Vanilla, Butter Scotch, Chocolate, Strawberry, Kesar Pista, Kesar Elaichi and might be many more.

You can pick any to make this cake.

BURA SUGAR

Though we have used bura sugar but this is no compulsion to you.

You can use refined sugar after powering it or jaggery or jaggery powder.

BAKING POWDER

It makes a cake soft and fluffy, so must Ingredient to go in baking cakes.

SALT

Salt in desserts help in enhancing the taste.

OIL

Oil works as a fat content in cakes and makes the cake soft and spongy.

Use any oil but make sure it shouldn’t have a neutral taste and smell.

MILK

Milk works as a binding agent. It must be at room temperature.

If you are vegan, then substitute dairy milk with some plant based one.

LEMON JUICE

As we have added baking powder in this cake, the use of lemon juice will work as activating agent to baking powder and as a result, helps in creating some loftiness in cake.

Hi Misha, cakes made of whole wheat flour are much heavy & dense. But you can try that way. Better if you add maida/atta in the ratio of 50:50. Thanks.
