Condensed milk is a very demanding recipe in many of the cakes, sweets and numerous sweet foods. You might have found many recipes using sugar and milk as substitute to milkmaid but the kind of texture and richness to the recipe can be brought by condensed milk, that is simply matchless.
This is often found that while reading your favorite recipes, the moment you come across condensed milk or milkmaid as a part of the Ingredients, many drop the idea of making that recipe immediately or moves to another search like, “how to make (xyz) without condensed milk?” Isn’t it right?
There are 3 major common reasons behind skipping the recipes using condensed milk. One, the condensed milk is not often available in the refrigerator or pantry of every kitchen.
Second, a small can of store brought milkmaid costs too much that many prefer the idea of making a recipe with better substitutes.
And third one is that even if you think of making condensed milk at home with milk, it needs at least an hour full of labor.
The present recipe is the most economical and easy milkmaid recipe we have ever come across. With this method, the price of condensed milk will cut to more than half & time of labour reduces from 1 hour to 5 minutes. Isn’t that sounds great?

Step wise pictorial method of how to make condensed milk quickly
- Take a bowl and add milk powder in it.
- Add sugar after powdering it in a blender.
- Add cornflour & baking soda in it.
- Now add the melted butter.
- Now start adding water little by little to make a thick but flowing mixture.
- Transfer this mixture in a heavy bottom pan & place on low flame.
- Keep stirring for 2 to 3 minutes & let mixture turn little more thick.
- Turn off the flame and let the mixture cool down completely.
- Your instant condensed milk is ready. Transfer in airtight container and place in refrigerator. Stays good for 1 month.
NOTES
- Do not cook on high flame or over cook the mixture otherwise sugar will start caramelizing and milkmaid will turn brown in colour.
- Don’t get confused with the consistency of milkmaid while it is hot. When the mixture will be kept in refrigerator, it will turn more thick.
