INGREDIENTS USED IN HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE SYRUP

COCOA POWDER : To make this recipe, you need to use good quality of 100% unsweetened cocoa powder or cacao powder.

SUGAR: This recipe uses brown sugar. However you can use the regular white granulated sugar as well.

CORN FLOUR: what we name corn flour in India is called by the name Corn starch outside. This will help the syrup to thicken.

WATER: This recipes uses water as a liquid agent. In place of water, you can use milk as well but the chocolate syrup made with milk has a very short life, approximately 2 to 3 days. So it is suggested to go for water for a longer shelf life.

SALT : A pinch of salt for enhancing the sweetness of chocolate syrup.

VANILLA ESSENCE: Vanilla essence is added for elevating the flavours whereas we realised later that even if it would not have been added, there were not any difference in taste though. So you can easily skip this or substitute vanilla essence with chocolate essence for more deep flavours of chocolate.
