Hailing from Konkani cuisine, this bataba Phodi is the thinkly slices marinated potatoes, which are coated in semolina and then fried to golden.

This is such an easy to make recipe wherein you will feel like doing nothing while preparing.

In addition to red chilli powder, turmeric powder, carom seeds and salt, you can additionally go for chaat masala, garam masala or lemon juice.

In some of the recipes, people do add red chilli powder and rice flour in semolina as well but we did it in marination only.

This recipe is a great to go when it comes to its serving. You can either enjoy it as a snack with your choice of dip or as a side dish with meal.

There’s one important tip is that serve them immediately when you take them off the air fryer or pan because when they turn completely cool, they loose their crunch.

So without any delay, let’s begin with the recipe.

STEP WISE PICTORIAL RECIPE OF BATATA PHODI RECIPE | POTATO RAVA FRY IN AIR FRYER

 

Peel the potatoes.

Cut them into slices. Slices should neither be too thick nor too thin.

Wash them.

Transfer them into a bowl. Make sure they shouldn’t be too much wet.

Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, carom seeds and oil.

NOTE : You need not to add oil if making in pan.

Give them a good mix and leave aside for 15 minutes.

Spread semolina in a plate.

Coat each slice of potato in semolina.

Arrange in the greased basket of air fryer.

Air fry @180°C for 15 minutes.

If making in a pan, just sprinkle little oil in the pan and arrange semolina costed potato slices in it.

Drizzle very little oil over them as well.

Put a lid and cook for 5-7 minutes.

Turn their sides then.

Again cook for 5-7 minutes.

Check by inserting a fork and you will get to feel they are ready or not.

Take out of the air fryer/pan and enjoy hot and crisp.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 potatoes
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1 tsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup semolina/suji/rava

Instructions
