Caramel bread pudding is one of the interesting dessert recipe using bread. This is steamed bread pudding recipe unlike another bread pudding from this blog which is the baked one named custard bread pudding.
The best part of the recipe is that you can use the leftover bread or even buns or bugatti. There are some recipes which uses bread after discarding the edges and those edges can easily be used in the present recipe.
This caramel bread pudding recipe has such a soft texture that you will feel as if running a knife over the cream.
We have made this recipe number of times as it is extremely delicious as well as easy to make. Do not raise your eyebrows, this is really easy to make, even the caramel making part also. All your need to burn the sugar which will take just 5 minutes and that’s all.
The visual and distinctive name of the recipe might give impression to many that this must be something very complex and complicated but the list of ingredients will leave you awestruck.

You can make this recipe ahead of time and keep in refrigerator for 2-3 days.
STEP WISE PICTORIAL RECIPE OF CARAMEL BREAD PUDDING
1. Take bread and roughly tear it into very small pieces.
2. Pour milk in a pan and add corn flour in it. Whisk.
3. Also add sugar and when sugar melts, add vanilla essence.
4. Switch off the heat and add bread slices.
5. Mash them so well that mixture turns creamy. If you will not mash it properly, you are going to get the chunks of bread while eating pudding.
6. Now take another pan in which you are going to steam your pudding. We are using the cake tin. Add water and sugar in it.
7. Let sugar turn brown meaning thereby, let it caramelize. But be careful, this time sugar will be extremely hot.
8. Using a tong, tilt the caramel across all the sides of the pan so that each side gets coated well with caramel but don’t let caramel turn cool.
9. Immediately transfer bread mixture over the caramel and level it.
10. Cover the pan with an aluminium foil and make some holes over the foil using toothpick.
11. Put the pan in streamer and steam for 30 minutes.
12. Take the pan out and let the pudding cool down completely and thereafter run a knife over the edges to get it out of the pan.
Invert and enjoy chilled.

Ingredients
FOR BASE
- 6 bread slices
- 1.5 cup milk (375 ml)
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp corn flour
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
FOR TOP LAYER
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp water
Instructions
