Ingredients

  • 2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup curd
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp carom seeds/ajwain
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Kasuri methi
  • Oil or desi ghee as needed
  • Dry flour as per need

Instructions

  • In a bowl and add whole wheat flour and all the spices mentioned in the recipe card i.e. salt carom seeds/ajwain, garam masala, coriander powder, red chilli powder and Kasuri methi.
  • Give them a good mix.
  • Add curd.
  • Mix well and knead into a normal dough. Add more curd if needed but in our case, 1 cup of curd was sufficient.
  • Apply few drops of oil on the top of dough, cover and rest for 10 minutes.
  • Take a portion of dough and roll into a round disk by dusting dry flour wherever needed.
  • Apply oil or ghee over the disk.
  • Fold it half looking like a D.
  • Again apply oil/ghee.
  • Furthermore fold it making a triangle. However this is not the compulsary shape and you can roll paratha in any shape you want.
  • Roll the paratha with a rolling pin.
  • Cook it on hot tawa from both sides by applying oil/ghee.
  • Enjoy the way you like. We served it with dahi wala paneer.

Notes

The quantity of spices especially salt depends upon the fact that how you will be serving the parathas. If serving plain just with tea or curd, need more spices but if serving with some sabji, then nominal amount of spices are enough. We served them with dahi wala paneer.
