Add 2 tbsp water in a heavy bottomed pan and also add milk. Put it on high heat.
When milk turns lukewarm, take 2-3 ladles full and add to a bowl carrying custard powder.
Mix it so well.
Add this custard mixture to the milk.
Also add sugar.
Let the milk cook. Keep stirring. Also keep scraping the sides of the pan because malai goes and sticks there.
Boil the milk till it turns thick. You can check by drawing a line at the back side of the spoon.
Once milk is thick, remove the pan from the heat to cool down completely.
In the meantime, take bread slices and cut them into small quarters.
For roasting on tawa, apply desi ghee on non stick tawa.
Arrange bread quarters on tawa.
Apply desi ghee on bread.
Alternatively you can bake in oven or fry bread quarters in air fryer @180° C for 15-18 minutes from both the sides until brown and crisp.
Arrange the crisp bread quarters in a serving dish.
Pour custard milk over them.
Garnish with nuts of your choice.
Enjoy chilled.
