Dalai Ladoo | Broken Wheat Ladoo

Dalia, also named as Broken Wheat in English is one of the famous health food which is even added in the diet plan of toddlers also.

very rich in fiber, dalia is considered as a good medium of carbohydrates too. Apart from fiber, Dalia is a material source of energy. It has enough quantity of proteins to keep people feeling more satisfied with their meals.

People going through heavy weight problem and Diabetics are also recommended to add Dalia in their daily food as it helps heavy weights to stay away from overeating. Also it helps to keep the glucose level stable all day amongst the Diabetics.

The star ingredient of this recipe is Dalai/Broken Wheat

Dalai Ladoo | Broken Wheat Ladoo

1. Take a non-stick pan and dry roast Dalia on low flame.

2. When Dalia will become light golden brown, remove it in a plate and let it cool down.

3. Transfer Dalia in a blender and also add Almonds, Cashews and Cardamoms in the same blender.

4. Blend the mixture into a fine powder.

5. Also grind sugar to a fine powder separately.

6. Take a bowl, add Powdered Dalia & Powdered Sugar and mix both well.

7. Begin to make type 1 Ladoo. These will be made with Desi Ghee:-

I. Take half of the mixture and Knead it with finger tips by adding Ghee in it spoon by spoon.

II. When the mixture comes to a consistency which you feel that now it can be assembled together, stop adding Ghee.

III. Grease your palms with ghee, take a small size portion out of the dough and roll it between both the hands to give it a shape of Ladoo.

IV. Likewise finish the mixture by making more Ladoos.

8. Now begin to make type 2 Ladoos. These are made with Milk:-

I. Take rest of the Dalia-sugar mixture and Knead it with finger tips by adding Milk in it spoon by spoon.

II. When the mixture comes to a consistency which you feel that now it can be assembled together, stop adding Milk.

III. Grease your palms with ghee, take a small size portion out of the dough and roll it between both the hands to give it a shape of Ladoo.

IV. Likewise finish the mixture by making more Ladoos.

Now 2 types of Ladoos are ready.   Keep them in an airtight jar.

NOTE

1. Ladoos made with ghee can be preserved for about a week whereas Ladoos made with Milk have to be consumed within 24 hours.

2. Alternatively, Jaggery can also be used in place of sugar.
