Baked Tortilla Chips Recipe | Crispy homemade Nacho chips recipe with step wise pictorial and video method.

These Chips Recipe not only gave us an amazing tea time snack but at the same time, helped in utilizing the maize flour/makki ka atta kept lying unused since the winters had come to an end.

As you know that makki ki roti is commonly made during winters in India especially in the northern part.

We too had made makki ki roti several times during the season and also made makki ki masala roti but when the winters came to an end, still a bulk of atta was left in the pantry. Time & again we thought of finishing it but there was no appropriate recipe found & there was no plan to make roti out of this.

Then we came across this recipe of nacho chips made with makki ka atta on a social networking site. We found it useful in two ways.

One, the leftover makki ka atta will be finished & secondly, we will get a recipe to cherish in the evening. In making these chips, very basic and common ingredients have been used.

These are called Tortilla chips which are thin and crispy snacks made into triangular shapes and then fried or baked.

They have a crunchy texture and a savory, slightly salty flavor to be served with dips like salsa, queso or guacamole. Nacho chips are made out of these tortillas where they are topped with melted cheese, beans, jalapeños, and other toppings.

These chips are popular in Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisines and are enjoyed as a snack or appetizer worldwide.

STEP WISE PICTORIAL RECIPE OF BAKED TORTILLA CHIPS RECIPE

Add maize flour in a bowl alongwith salt, black pepper powder, oregano and carom seeds. Mix.

Add boiling water and oil.

Mix well.

Put a lid and rest for 10 minutes.

Thereafter transfer it into a big paraat and knead it for 10 minutes.

Divide the dough into portions. Cover rest of the portions and proceed with the one.

Take one portion, roll it between your palms and flatten on the rolling board using hands and rolling pin, whichever works best for you. Dust the flour wherever needed.

Cup the roti by pressing with some round lid for clean edges.

Prick the flat roti with fork so that it doesn’t puff up while baking. Now with the help of pizza cutter or knife, mark cuts over the roti from one end to the other from all sides. At the end, you will get triangular shaped chips. (for better understanding, look at the picture below).

For Air frying, arrange the chips in air fryer basket but the basket should be greased with oil first. Air fry @180C for 10 minutes.

For baking, bake @180C for 30 minutes or until the edges turn slightly brown. Finish the entire dough likewise & make nacho chips.

Let the chips turn completely cool before transferring to an airtight container otherwise they will turn soggy. Enjoy with salsa.

Instead of air frying or baking, you can deep fry the chips as well.
