Aloo ka cheela recipe | Vegan potatoes hash recipe with step wise pictorial and video method.

“ALOO” is Potato in English and “CHEELA” means Pancake.

So Aloo ka cheela is called by the name potatoes pancake or hashbrown also. Hashbrown is also cooked in similar way, except it contains eggs and onion too.

This Vegan and Glutenfree Aloo ka cheela is an Indian version carrying no onion, no eggs which gets ready in no time with one prime ingredient named potato and few spices.

This recipe is being cooked in our family since ages and is being loved by one and all. It happens in every home that sometimes you don’t feel like cooking at length for various reasons, either being not in a mood to cook or there’s nothing in the refrigerator to cook. So in that situation, such kind of recipes come to rescue.

Though aloo ka cheela is commonly treated as a snack or breakfast recipe, but we love to eat it as a sabzi with fulka. Many a times in the morning, when we aren’t sure about what to cook for the tiffin, aloo ka cheela is a quick reply.

Although there’s no hard and fast rule as to what to add and what not but you can also add red onion, spring onion, coriander and some finely chopped veggies like carrots, beans, peas, corns or anything you like. However some add egg too.

STEP WISE PICTORIAL METHOD OF ALOO KA CHEELA RECIPE

1. Wash the potatoes very well. As we are using potatoes with skin, so they need to be washed extremely well by rubbing all around so that there remains no dust or sand stick to them.

2. Grate the potatoes.

3. Then grate the ginger also.

4. Add all the other ingredients except oil i.e. carom seeds, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, dry mango powder, corn flour/corn starch and salt.

5. Mix them so well.

6. Take a non stick pan and add 1 tbsp of oil in it.

7. Put handful of the potato mixture and spread all over the pan.

8. You may use some katori to press the potatoes so that they remain equally spread.

9. Also line the edges so that cheela remains round in shape.

10. Let them cook underneath on low heat until it is done from one side.

11. Very carefully, turn the down side up and cook from other side too.

12. When the potato mixture turns brown from both the sides, take it out and also cook the second one.

Aloo ka cheela is ready.

NOTES

1. You may peel the potatoes if you like.

2. You can keep the size of cheelas as per your liking. If making small, you can have more than 2 cheelas.
