Take yellow moong dal in a bowl, wash 2-3 times and soak for 20 minutes.
While the dal is soaked, take oil in a pan and when it is hot, add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add onion and ginger.
Cook till onion turn soft and translucent.
Add tomatoes, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, green chilies and dry red chilli. Mix.
Put a lid and let the tomatoes cook, while stirring occasionally.
Cook tomatoes on low heat until the oil separates. It's a sign that tomatoes are thoroughly cooked.
Add soaked moong dal after draining the water and roast the dal for 2 minutes on high heat.
Add water and give a mix.
Let the boil come and till then keep the heat high.
Once water begins to boil, bring the heat between low to medium, put a lid on the pan and let the dal cook.
Let the dal simmer for 25 minutes.
After 25 minutes, remove the lid and you can check the doneness of dal by simply pressing it.
When the dal is completely cooked, add oats and mix well.
Again put a lid and let the oats cook for 5 minutes.
Remove the lid and add coriander leaves. Mix well.
Enjoy.
