FOR MAKING PASTE
- 1 cup moong dal
- Small piece of ginger
- 2 green chilies
- 2-3 tbsp water
FOR PREPARING SPREAD & TOAST
- 1/4 cup grated carrot
- 1/4 cup onion (thinly chopped)
- Handful of coriander leaves
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- White sesame seeds as per need
- Leftover roti or bread slices as required
MAKING OF PASTE
Wash and soak moong dal for 4 hours in water at room temperature. If you are short of time, soak dal in boiling hot water for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Better cover the bowl to cease the heat inside.
Drain the water and put dal in grinder jar alongwith green chilies, ginger and water.
Grind to a fine paste.
PREPARATION OF SPREAD & TOAST
Take the paste out in a bowl and add carrot, onion, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
Give it a good mix.
Spread 2-3 tbsp of paste on leftover roti or bread. We did it on both. Sprinkle sesame seeds.
Brush non stick pan with oil.
Place the roti or bread on tawa. Paste applied side should be faced towards the tawa. Roast from both the sides till brown.
To bake in oven, arrange the roti or/& bread on a baking tray and sprinkle sesame seeds.
Bake @200°C in preheated oven on the top rack for 20-25 minutes or until brown.
Cut in desired pieces and enjoy with tomato ketchup or any dip of your choice.
