Ingredients

1 cup = 250 ml

  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 2 tbsp semolina
  • Half carrot (grated)
  • 3 tbsp onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 green chilies (chopped)
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  • In a bowl take rice flour and semolina.
  • Start adding water, but slowly and keep whisking simultaneously, otherwise lumps may be formed.
  • The consistency of batter should be like a buttermilk.
  • Add carrot (grated), onion (finely chopped), cumin seeds, green chilies (chopped), black pepper powder, curry leaves, coriander leaves and salt.
  • Mix well.
  • Put a lid and rest for 15-20 minutes.
  • Uncover and mix it again because rice flour sits at the bottom.
  • Brush some oil on non stick tawa/pan. Make sure the pan should be piping hot.
  • Start pouring the batter begining from the sides.
  • Cover the entire base of the pan/tawa with a thin layer of batter.
  • Let it cook for 3-4 minutes on low heat from one side.
  • Carefully lift the dosa from the edge.
  • Turn the upside down.
  • Cook from other side as well for a minute or two.
  • Instant Rice flour dosa is ready. Enjoy with coconut chutney, tomato chutney, peanut chutney, sambar or podi.

Notes

  1. You can skip or add any vegetables of your choice.
  2. It can be made even without vegetables.
  3. As there's no baking soda or baking powder in it, you can make the batter at night and make dosa in the morning.
  4. After adding water, do put the batter in rest because rice flour and semolina, both absorb water.
  5. Always mix the batter before pouring on tawa because rice flour sits at the bottom very quickly leaving the water on the top.
  6. Only use non stick tawa or pan too cook this dosa.
