1 cup = 250 ml
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 15 dry dates
- 20 almonds
- 4 tbsp desi ghee
- 1/4 milk
Wash dry dates very well.
Soak them overnight.
Also soak almonds overnight.
Next morning, remove the cap of dates.
Cut them and remove the seeds.
Also peel the almonds.
Add both dates and almonds in grinder jar.
In the first grind, you will get moist powder like consistency.
Add milk little by little while grinding to get the smooth paste.
Make sure the mixture should turn completely smooth.
Take whole wheat flour and desi ghee in a bowl.
First mix by rubbing both of them. You will get a breadcrumbs like consistency.
Add dates almonds paste.
Bring everything together into a dough and place the dough in refrigerator for 10 minutes.
Thereafter, take a lemon sized dough and flatten it.
Arrange them on a baking tray lined with greased butter paper or silicon mat.
Cut them using cookie cutter to give attractive shape, however it is purely personal choice.
Bake in the preheated oven @180°C for 30 minutes or until edges begin to turn slightly brown. Do not overbake otherwise cookies will turn hard.
Cool completely and let the baby enjoy.
- These cookies are very mildly sweet, so if you want them more sweet, add jaggery powder or cane sugar.
- If not making for babies and you want them to be crunchy, add 1/2 tsp baking powder and 1/4 tsp baking soda.
- Madjool dates can be used instead of dry dates and in that case, no need of overnight soaking.
