Gond ki Raab recipe

gond ki Raab is a traditional gujrati drink mainly made using gond/edible, ghee, flour, sweetener and water.

Ingredients
  

1 cup = 250 ml

  • 1.5 tbsp gond/edible gum
  • 1 tbsp desi ghee
  • 2 tbsp whole wheat flour
  • 1.5 cup/375 ml water
  • 3 tbsp Jaggery/gud
  • 1/4 tsp dry ginger powder/sonth
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • Pinch of cinnamon powder
  • 2 tbsp desiccated or grated coconut
  • 2 tbsp almond slivers
  • Few strands of saffron

Instructions
 

  • Take a pan and add desi ghee in it.
  • Add gond and roast it on low heat until it turns slightly puffed up and translucent.
  • Take the gond out of the pan.
  • Add flour in the remaining ghee and roast on low heat until slightly brown.
  • Add water gradually by stirring throughout otherwise lumps may be formed.
  • When flour is thoroughly mixed with water, add gond and let simmer so that gond begins to dissolve.
  • Also add jaggery, dry ginger powder and cinnamon powder. Mix
  • Let gond and jaggery completely dissolve.
  • Add cardamom powder, almonds, saffron and coconut. Mix well.
  • Give a slight boil for a minute.
  • Gond ki Raab is ready.
  • Serve hot.
