Ingredients

  • 3 bananas (ripe to overripe)
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp rice flour (optional but recommended for crispness)
  • 2 tbsp sugar of your choice (we added brown sugar)
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla essence
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • Oil for greasing butter paper
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (we added bura sugar)

Instructions

  • Arrange a butter paper in the air fryer basket with small holes in the paper all over.
  • Grease the butter paper very well.
  • Take bananas in a bowl.
  • Mash them very well.
  • Add rice flour, cinnamon powder, salt, sugar and vanilla essence.
  • Give them a good mix.
  • Now start adding whole wheat flour, but little at a time.
  • Keep adding the flour and keep mixing.
  • Add the flour until the mashed bananas turn into a thick paste. To reach the desired consistency, we needed to add 3/4 of flour.
  • In the meantime, pre-heat the air fryer @180°C for 5 minutes.
  • Add baking soda into the paste and give a good mix.
  • Using a greased spoon or ice cream scoop, drop a dollop of banana paste in the air fryer basket, but keeping a distance between each dollop.
  • Air fry @180°C for 8-9 minute or until dollops turn brown. Do not flip the dollops.
  • Once done, take them out and likewise make the second batch.
  • Dust some powdered sugar over the fritters.
  • Banana fritters are ready. Enjoy.

Notes

After making 2 batches of banana fritters in Air Fryer, we were left with the paste of only 2 fritters, so tried them in oven. They took 20 minutes in pre-heated oven @180°C.
