Ajwain cookies recipe

Very simple and basic ajwain cookies to be enjoyed as a tea time snack is made with ajwain/carom seeds, whole wheat flour, butter and jaggery powder.

Ingredients
1 cup = 200 ml

cup
whole wheat flour
(134 gram)
1/2
cup
butter
(100 gm)
3
tbsp
sugar of your choice
(we have used Jaggery powder)

tsp
plus little extra carom seeds/ajwain
1/2
tsp
Baking powder
1/4
tsp
baking soda
1/4
tsp
salt
Instructions
In a bowl add butter and sugar.
Cream them using the electric beater. You can do this process with hand beater too but that will be time taking.
Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and 1 tsp carom seeds.
Now start mixing the ingredients and bring them together.
A dough is ready.
Take a lemon size dough and roll it between your palm and slightly flatten it.
Arrange all on a baking tray lined with greased butter paper or parchment paper.
Sprinkle bit of carom seeds all over the cookies and gently press them.
Place the tray in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Bake in a pre-heated oven @180°C for 20-25 minutes in the middle rack with both the rods on.
Bring the tray out and let cookies cool down completely.
Ajwain cookies are ready.
Notes
If dough is finding difficulty in binding, add a bit of milk.
