1 cup = 250 ml
FOR FRYING TOFU
- 500 grams Firm Tofu
- Oil for Air Frying/shallow frying
FOR MAKING CHILI TOFU
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp garlic (chopped)
- 1 spring onion white (cut into squares)
- 1 onion (cut into squares)
- 1 bell pepper/capsicum (cut into squares)
- 1 tbsp red or green chili sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (gluten free)
- 1 tbsp white vinegar
- 1 tbsp tomato sauce
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp cornstarch/cornflour
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup spring onion greens chopped
- White sesame seeds as required
FRYING TOFU
Cut tofu into pieces of desired size.
Either shallow fry them or arrange them in greased air fryer basket.
Brush oil on them.
Air Fry @180°C for 10 minutes.
Take the basket out and turn the sides of tofu.
Apply oil on other side as well.
Air Fry @200°C for 5 minutes.
Tofu is fried. Keep aside.
MAKING OF CHILI TOFU
Heat oil in a pan and add garlic.
Saute until slightly brown.
Add spring onion white, onion and bell pepper squares.
Saute on high heat for 3-4 minutes.
Add red or green chili sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, tomato sauce and salt. Be careful while adding salt as sauces too have salt in them.
Mix well.
Take cornstarch/cornflour in a bowl and mix water in it.
Add this slurry in the pan.
On just one boil, add fried tofu and spring onion greens.
Mix well.
Lastly add white sesame seeds.
Serve hot with fried rice, noodles, inside wraps or bowls or as a standalone appetizer.
