Coconut chutney with desiccated coconut

Coconut chutney is a staple food from South India and a must condiment with dosa and idli.

Ingredients
  

1 cup = 250 ml

    FOR PASTE

    • 1/4 cup dessicated coconut (25 gram)
    • 1/4 cup raw peanuts (45 grams)
    • 2 green chilies
    • Small piece of tamarind
    • Salt to taste
    • 1/2 cup water

    FOR TEMPERING

    • 2 tbsp Oil
    • 1 tbsp mustard seeds
    • 8-10 curry leaves
    • 1 dry red chilli

    Instructions
     

    • Roast peanuts on low heat and let cool completely.
    • Add peanuts, coconut, green chilies, tamarind, salt and water.
    • Grind to a smooth paste.
    • Take the paste out in a bowl.
    • Add oil in tadka pan and add mustard, curry leaves and chilli. Mix.
    • Pour on the paste and mix.
    • Coconut chutney with dessicated coconut is ready.
