Bread Pakoda or bread fritters is a famous Indian Street food made with stuffed bread coated with spiced gram flour batter and then deep fried.

Ingredients
  

FOR STUFFING

  • 3 medium boiled potatoes
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 green chilies (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp ginger (crushed)
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • Red chilli powder to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves (roughly chopped)

FOR BATTER

  • 1 Cup besan/gram flour roasted, if making pakoda in air fryer
  • 1 tsp ajwain/carom seeds
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves roughly chopped
  • Water as required

ADDITIONAL INGREDIENT

  • Bread slices as required
  • Oil for greasing

Instructions
 

MAKING OF STUFFING

  • Take potatoes in a bowl and mash them.
  • Add rest of the ingredients i.e. cumin seeds, green chilies, ginger, garam masala, coriander powder, red chilli powder, salt and coriander leaves. Mix well.

MAKING OF BATTER

  • Take gram flour in separate bowl and add carom seeds, turmeric and coriander leaves. Mix.
  • Add water little by little to make a batter. Batter needs to be slightly thin if cooking in air fryer otherwise keep it thick if deep frying.

MAKING OF PAKODA

  • Cut bread slices into halves giving them a diagonal shape.
  • Place potato stuffing on a bread and place another slice of bread making it a sandwich.
  • Dip the sandwich in batter from both the sides.
  • Arrange aluminium foil (with holes) in an air fryer basket and grease it with oil.
  • Place bread slices in the basket.
  • Air fry @180°C for 15-20 minutes. Do turn the sides during the half time.
