Ingredients

1 Cup = 250 ml

  • 1 cup Dalia/broken wheat (190 gram - unroasted))
  • 1/2 cup sugar of your choice (175 gram - we used brown sugar)
  • 3/4 cup milk (180 ml)
  • 1/4 cup oil (60 ml)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • Nuts of your choice (we used almonds, cashews and pistachios)

Instructions

  • Take 1 cup Dalia and 1/2 cup sugar in a grinder jar.
  • Grind them to a powder and add into a bowl. The texture of powder needs to be fine as much as possible. Our's were almost 90% fine and 10% coarse.
  • Also add 3/4 cup milk and 1/4 cup oil.
  • Give them a good mix.
  • Rest them for 15-20 minutes.
  • Add 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1/8 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp vanilla essence.
  • Mix well.
  • Pour the batter in a cake tin lined with greased butter paper.
  • Top with chopped nuts of your choice.
  • Bake in a pre-heated oven @170°C for 30 minutes.
  • Check by inserting a toothpick and if the toothpick comes out clean, that's a sign that cake is properly baked.
  • Let cake cool down for 10 - 15 minutes on a cooling rack.
  • Invert the cake and remove the butterpaper.
  • Again place the cake on cooling rack to cool down completely.
  • Enjoy.
