Carmel bread pudding recipe

Caramel bread pudding is one of the interesting dessert recipe using bread.

Ingredients
  

FOR BASE

  • 6 bread slices
  • 1.5 cup milk (375 ml)
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp corn flour
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence

FOR TOP LAYER

  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions
 

  • Take bread and roughly tear it into very small pieces.
  • Pour milk in a pan and add corn flour in it. Whisk.
  • Also add sugar and when sugar melts, add vanilla essence.
  • Switch off the heat and add bread slices.
  • Mash them so well that mixture turns creamy. If you will not mash it properly, you are going to get the chunks of bread while eating pudding.
  • Now take another pan in which you are going to steam your pudding. We are using the cake tin. Add water and sugar in it.
  • Let sugar turn brown meaning thereby, let it caramelize. But be careful, this time sugar will be extremely hot.
  • Using a tong, tilt the caramel across all the sides of the pan so that each side gets coated well with caramel but don't let caramel turn cool.
  • Immediately transfer bread mixture over the caramel and level it.
  • Cover the pan with an aluminium foil and make some holes over the foil using toothpick.
  • Put the pan in streamer and steam for 30 minutes.
  • Take the pan out and let the pudding cool down completely and thereafter run a knife over the edges to get it out of the pan.
  • Invert and enjoy chilled.
