Spicy puffed rice recipe (murmura chivda)

Spicy puffed rice recipe is an indian savoury snack mix, made of murmura, peanuts and some dry Indian spices.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 3/4 cup peanuts
  • 10-12 curry leaves
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 4 cups murmura/puffed rice
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp black salt
  • 1 tsp dry mango powder
  • 1 tsp powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Take a heavy bottomed pan and add oil in it.
  • Add peanuts and roast them on low heat till they slightly brown.
  • Take them out of the pan and keep aside.
  • Off the heat and let oil cool down a bit.
  • Add curry leaves, red chilli powder and turmeric powder. Saute.
  • Switch on the heat and add murmure.
  • Roast them for a minute or two. If your murmure are soggy, then roast them for 5-7 minutes or till they again turn crisp.
  • Add salt, black salt, dry mango powder, powdered sugar and roasted peanuts. Mix evenly.
  • Spicy murmure are ready. Once they cool down completely, store them in airtight container.
